I have worked in the fitness industry since I was 18 and being close to 40 that works out, well you can work it out. I come predominantly from a bodybuilding and powerlifting background where all I was interested in getting strong and getting even bigger. But I have learned that bigger for me was not always better. It soon came to the fore when just running from one end of the gym to the other would nearly send me into a coronary. My goals in the gym and more importantly in life were beginning to change. Having four children changes things a lot and I realised I wanted to have good cardio endurance without compromising my strength. I was also looking for a group class that would represent Temple Fitness culture of excellence and community.
Then I was introduced to CrossFit. With only 2 CrossFit sessions under my belt I was off to Brisbane to do my Level 1 certificate. And my first workout there was FRAN. I was liftng the same weights as a 50kg lady next to me and jumping off a high box to do my chins. Then I realised I didnt know what fitness was. In my first 6 months I lost 16kgs and can honestly say I am the fittest I have ever been in my life WITHOUT compromising one bit of strength.
